Have you ever been in a situation where you did something and you were feeling so happy and fly only to get that ‘are you happy now’ expression from the Holy Spirit? What!
Now you are torn between accepting the Holy Spirit didn’t send you but you are trying to help Him do what He should do or continue basking in the joy of what you have done trusting that it will favour you?
So the Holy Spirit decides to burst your bubble and starts to show you the effect of what you have done which counters what your head knowledge thinks it will produce.
At this point all the excitement has gone down and has been replaced with fear and agitation; sometimes a feeling of regret and desire to undo what you have done.
You come into self-condemnation if care is not taken despite asking for forgiveness for what you have done. The fear of the consequences of your actions and the pain of letting your emotions get into play bite deep into your heart.
I understand and know this feeling so well. If care is not taken, it makes you shift your mindset from being a child to begging God desperately not to let what you’ve done backfire. I tell you, it is a bad place to be.
There is therefore now no condemnation to them who are in Christ….
There is nothing a child does to the father that will change the sonship and as our heavenly Father, He loves us so well and His chastening is another show of His love to us. So what do we do?
We reaffirm to ourselves that what we have done does not change our sonship.
Also, the love of Christ is enough to carry you through whatever the consequence of your action will be because He will always provide a succour for you; a means of escape. Perfect love casts out fear.
You need to trust in the love of your father. No matter the consequence, He can avert the effect and if He chooses not to avert it, know fully well He will be with you and cushion the effect of whatever the consequences are.
So, before you let the devil ripe you of your joy and sink you into self-condemnation, look back at the cross; the emblem of love that saved you. He will always provide succour for you. He’s always got your back. Rest in His guiding love!
